Dorjee, 18 anni, si è dato alle fiamme intorno alle ore 6:30 del pomeriggio, ora locale, lunedì vicino alla cittadina di Chara, a circa 70Km dalla città di Ngaba, dove la maggioranza delle immolazioni di quest’ultimo anno hanno avuto luogo. Un testimone oculare ha visto Dorjee darsi alle fiamme vicino ad un ponte, appena fuori dalla cittadina, e poi incamminarsi in fiamme verso il palazzo del governo dove è morto. Subito personale dell’uffico per la Pubblica Sicurezza sono giunti sulla scena e hanno portato via il corpo di Dorjee. La direttrice di Free Tibet Stephanie Brigden ha commentato che i tibetani come Dorjee oggi e Rinchen ieri,scelgono di immolarsi di fronte agli edifici del governo come gesto di rifiuto del potere e delloppressione che questi palazzi rappresentano per le comunità tibetane. La terza auto immolazione in tre giorni dimostra che i tibetani non smetteranno di protestare fino a quando le loro richieste di libertà non saranno ascoltate. La Comunità internazionale deve agire subito. http://www.freetibet.org Third self-immolation in Tibet in as many days 18-year-old Dorjee, mother of four Rinchen and student Tsering Kyi have all set themselves on fire in protest at the Chinese occupation of Tibet since Saturday. Dorjee, aged 18, set fire to himself at approximately 6.30pm local time today near Chara Township, Ngaba County, Eastern Tibet approximately 70 kilometres from Ngaba where many of the last year’s self-immolations have taken place. An eyewitness reported seeing Dorjee set himself on fire near a bridge outside the township and then walk in flames to a government office building where he collapsed. He died at the scene. Chinese security personnel (People’s Armed Police and Public Security Bureau personnel) arrived on the scene and took away Dorjee’s body. Free Tibet Director Stephanie Brigden commented: “Tibetans – like Dorjee today, and Rinchen yesterday – are choosing to set fire to themselves in front of government buildings in an attempt to reject the power and oppression these places represent in Tibetan communities. “This third self-immolation in as many days underlines that Tibetans will not stop protesting until their calls for freedom are heeded. The international community must take immediate action.”
