Call for submissionss

Pursuant to the request of the Resolution A/HRC/RES/S-16/1 of the United Nations Human Rights Council (HRC), adopted on 29 April 2011, the High Commissioner for Human Rights established a Fact Finding Mission to investigate all alleged violations of international human rights law in Syria; to establish the facts and circumstances of such violations and of the crimes perpetrated, with a view to avoiding impunity and ensuring full accountability.

The Fact Finding Mission on the situation in Syria (hereafter: the Mission) will be headed by the Deputy High Commissioner for Human Rights, Ms. Kyung-wha Kang. Her Deputy will be Ms. Hania Mufti. The team is composed of 15 members, both OHCHR human rights officers and technical experts.

The Fact Finding Mission on the situation is Syria wishes to invite all interested persons and organizations to submit relevant information and documentation that could assist in the implementation of the Mission's mandate.

Submissions should focus on events that occurred in the context of the crisis that has been unfolding since 15 March 2011.

The Mission would be grateful if submissions are presented as concisely as possible. The Mission will accept submissions in Arabic, English or French.

Unless otherwise indicated by the author, the Mission will assume that submissions can be made public. Please indicate whether you wish parts of or whole submission to be treated as confidential.
