Il Kuwait ha stroncato tre cellule ISIS che stavano progettando attacchi terroristici
Le autorità di sicurezza kuwaitiane hanno scoperto tre cellule ISIS che stavano tramando attacchi terroristici nel paese, lo ha riferito Lunedi il ministero degli interni. Cinque cittadini kuwaitiani sono stati arrestati, tra cui un poliziotto e una donna, che hanno tutti confessato di preparare gli attacchi contro una moschea sciita e un obiettivo del ministero degli interni, ha scritto il ministero in un comunicato. Tutti i membri delle tre cellule anche confessato di essere membri del gruppo ISIS. La polizia kuwaitiana è ancora alla ricerca di un uomo del Golfo e di un asiatico che hanno assistito una delle cellule, ha aggiunto il ministero. L'azione contro le cellule arriva un anno dopo che un attentatore suicida legato all’ISIS si è fatto esplodere in una moschea sciita, uccidendo 26 fedeli nel peggior attacco in Kuwait. Un tribunale ha condannato l’uomo a morte imprigionando altre otto persone per aver assistito l'attentatore saudita.
Tra gli arrestati nell'ultima azione della polizia c’era il 18enne Raja Talal, che ha confessato di stare preparando un attacco suicida contro una moschea sciita e un'installazione del ministero degli interni per la fine del Ramadan, Martedì.
La seconda cellula consisteva di madre e figlio che sono stati arrestati in Siria nella cittadina di Riga controllata dall’ISIS, poi riportati in Kuwait. Il ministero non ha fornito dettagli su come siano stati arrestati. Il figlio di 28 anni, aveva interrotto i suoi studi di ingegneria del petrolio in Gran Bretagna per aderire all’ISIS dopo che il fratello più giovane era stato ucciso mentre combatteva per il gruppo in Iraq.
La terza cellula era composta da due kuwaitiani, uno dei quali era un poliziotto, che sono stati arrestati insieme, avevano due fucili Kalashnikov e munizioni. La coppia ha confessato di progettare attacchi nel paese.
Nel novembre dello scorso anno, la polizia del Kuwait sbaragliò una cellula internazionale guidata da un libanese, che stava inviando sistemi di difesa aerea e fondi al gruppo ISIS. Diversi sospetti militanti e simpatizzanti dell’ISIS sono stati processati in Kuwait per un attentato suicida rivendicato il mese scorso dal gruppo.

Kuwait busts three ISIS cells plotting terror attacks
Kuwaiti security authorities have broken up three ISIS cells plotting “terror” attacks in the country, the interior ministry said Monday. Five Kuwaiti nationals were arrested, including a policeman and a woman, who all confessed to plotting attacks against a Shiite mosque and an interior ministry target, the ministry said in a statement. All members of the three cells also confessed to being members of the ISIS group. Kuwaiti police are still looking for a Gulf man and an Asian who assisted one of the cells, the ministry said. The action against the cells comes a year after an ISIS-linked suicide bomber blew himself up in a Shiite mosque, killing 26 worshippers in the worst attack in Kuwait. A court sentenced one man to death and jailed eight others for assisting the Saudi bomber. Among those arrested in the latest police action was 18-year old Talal Raja who confessed to have been plotting a suicide attack against a Shiite mosque and an interior ministry installation by the end of Ramadan on Tuesday, the ministry said. The second cell consisted of a mother and son who were arrested in Syria in the ISIS-controlled Riga and brought back to Kuwait, the ministry said. It provided no details of how they were arrested. The 28-year old son had cut short his petroleum engineering study in Britain to join the ISIS after his younger brother was killed while fighting for the group in Iraq, the ministry said. The third cell comprised of two Kuwaitis, one of them a policeman, who were seized along with two Klashnikov rifles and ammunition. The pair confessed to plotting attacks in the country, the ministry said. In November last year, Kuwaiti police busted an international cell led by a Lebanese man that was sending air defence systems and funds to the ISIS group. Several suspected ISIS militants and sympathizers were tried in Kuwait for a suicide bombing last month claimed by the group. |
