166 bambini sono morti nel campo di Tarmouk A Ginevra, Mercoledì, Friends of Humanity ha annunciato che 166 bambini sono morti dall'inizio dell’assedio del regime al campo profughi palestinese di Al-Yarmouk a sud di Damasco, lo ha riferito l’agenzia turca Anadolu. Il regime di Bashar Al-Assad ha imposto un assedio rigoroso sul campo profughi, che ospita migliaia di siriani e palestinesi, dal luglio del 2013.
In un nuovo rapporto, l'ONG ha descritto la situazione nel campo profughi come "tragica", a causa della diffusione di malattie e fame, e una carenza cronica di attrezzature mediche e farmaci.
Dall'inizio della crisi siriana nel 2011, ha dichiarato FoH, 2.651 rifugiati palestinesi sono stati uccisi, la maggior parte di loro dal regime. Il rapporto sostiene che "Alcuni sono morti di fame, alcuni sono stati uccisi da attacchi missilistici, alcuni da cecchini e alcuni sotto tortura, 818 palestinesi sono stati uccisi nelle carceri siriane, tra cui 293 provenienti da Al-Yarmouk Refugee Camp."
Inoltre il regime siriano ha predisposto misure "disumane" contro il campo profughi, come il taglio di acqua ed elettricità da aprile 2013. I rifugiati sono obbligati a ottenere la loro acqua da punti specifici garantiti da agenzie di soccorso.
Per mesi, le forze del regime hanno bloccato i rifornimenti di cibo e latte per i bambini in Al-Yarmouk, mettendo i rifugiati sotto pressione al fine di scovare i gruppi di opposizione che controllano il campo.
Al-Yarmouk è il più grande campo profughi in Siria, patria di circa 500.000 palestinesi, oltre a un gran numero di siriani. Molti sono fuggiti in Libano e in altri luoghi a causa dell'assedio e degli attacchi da parte delle forze del regime.

166 children have died in Al-Yarmouk Palestinian refugee camp
Geneva-based Friends of Humanity announced on Wednesday that 166 children have died since the start of the regime's siege of Al-Yarmouk Palestinian refugee camp south of Damascus, Anadolu has reported. The Bashar Al-Assad regime has imposed a strict siege on the refugee camp, which houses thousands of Syrians as well as Palestinians, since July 2013. In a new report, the NGO described the situation in the refugee camp as "tragic" because of the spread of disease and starvation, and a chronic shortage of medical equipment and medicines. Since the start of the Syrian crisis in 2011, said FoH, 2,651 Palestinian refugees have been killed, most of them by the regime. "Some died of hunger, some were killed by rocket attacks, some by snipers and some under torture," the report claimed. "Some 818 Palestinians were killed inside Syria's jails, including 293 from Al-Yarmouk Refugee Camp." It also said that the Syrian regime carried out "inhumane" measures against the refugee camp, such as cutting water and electricity supplies since April 2013. The refugees are obliged to get their water from specific points secured by relief agencies. For months, regime forces have been blocking food and children's milk from going into Al-Yarmouk, putting the refugees under pressure in order to flush out the opposition groups controlling the camp. Al-Yarmouk was the largest refugee camp in Syria and used to be home to around 500,000 Palestinians, in addition to large numbers of Syrians. Many have fled to Lebanon and other places because of the siege and attacks by regime forces. |
