http://www.phayul.com Tsekhog self immolator died hours after self immolation: sources The Tibetan monk who self immolated outside his monastery in Tsekhog County, Malho Prefecture, on March 16, had succumbed to his burns the same day, sources said. The monk whose name was not immediately known as authorities completely shutdown all communication lines was identified as Jigme Tenzin of Sonag monastery, Jhador township. Fellow monks of Sonag monastery managed to carry the charred body of Jigme inside the monastery where he breathed his last hours later. Jigme carried out the protest around 7.30 AM (local time) on Sunday, March 16, that saw two Tibetan monks immolate themselves in protest against the Chinese government in just one day. Another monk, Lobsang Palden, of Ngaba Kirti monastery immolated himself at the 'Pawoe Sanglam' (Martyr's Street) in Ngaba town on the same day that marked six years since a brutal crackdown by armed Chinese forces on Tibetan protesters leading to the death of at least ten Tibetans including a monk in Ngaba. Lobsang died on Friday, March 21. Following Jigme's self immolation protest, the authorities in Tsekhog immediately cut down all communication lines including all micro-messaging apps to ensure that the news and pictures if any were not sent out. Several monks of Sonag monastery were interrogated at the local police station. Most of them had returned to the monastery except four monks who continue to be held. Jigme, 29, studied at the Rebkong Rongwo monastery for ten years before returning to his native of Tsekhog.
