Per il 5° giorno consecutivo continuano gli scontri nelle città palestinesi in tutta Israele

Scontri tra cittadini palestinesi di Israele e le forze di polizia israeliane si sono riaccesi Domenica pomeriggio e hanno continuato nella notte per il quinto giorno consecutivo, in seguito alla conferma da parte della polizia segreta di Israele, la Shin Bet, che molti sospetti ebrei erano stati arrestati per il brutale omicidio del 16enne Mohammad Abu Khdeir a Gerusalemme Est la scorsa settimana.

I dimostranti palestinesi hanno bruciato pneumatici, bloccato strade e si sono scontrati con il personale di sicurezza israeliano in 19 città palestinesi.

A partire da Domenica sera, 277 palestinesi sono stati arrestati dall'inizio delle proteste e degli scontri che sono iniziati la scorsa settimana, tra cui 110 giovani sotto i 18 anni, secondo Adalah, il centro giuridico dei diritti delle minoranze arabe in Israele. Almeno 50 degli arrestati saranno trattenuti in tribunale nel tentativo di prolungare la durata dei loro arresti, secondo le stime della polizia israeliana.

Un gruppo di oltre 200 manifestanti si sono scontrati con le forze di sicurezza israeliane all'ingresso della città palestinese di Tamra vicino a Haifa nel pomeriggio di Domenica. 11 persone sono state arrestate durante gli scontri, secondo i rapporti della polizia israeliana. Oltre 50 cittadini palestinesi di Israele sono stati arrestati negli ultimi due giorni di scontri.

In Iksal, un villaggio palestinese vicino a Nazareth, i manifestanti hanno bruciato parti di un avamposto di polizia. A Nazareth, i manifestanti hanno lanciato pietre contro la polizia e una caserma locale dei pompieri, portando all'arresto di 12 manifestanti.

I manifestanti nella città di Arraba nella bassa Galilea hanno bruciato pneumatici sulla strada principale costringendo la polizia israeliana a chiuderla al traffico. Scontri sono stati riportati, tra le altre località, in Shefamer, Taibe, Tira, Qalansawe, Kafr Qara, Sakhnin.

"Vorrei chiamare la situazione in Qalansawe un atterraggio di fortuna. Questa è la prima volta nella storia che ho visto qualcosa di simile. Credo che la rabbia, che è stata costruita per anni, sia esplosa oggi", ha detto il Sindaco di Qalansawe, Abed Salameh, in un'intervista con Yehudit Yarenot.

Nel sud, gli scontri tra forze di sicurezza israeliane e cittadini palestinesi di Israele sono stati segnalati nelle città beduine di Arara, Laqiya, Tel as-Sabi, e Hura.

12 sono stati arrestati in relazione agli scontri vicini a Tel as-Sabi, in aumento nei prossimi giorni, secondo il sito web di Yehudit Yarenot. Manifestanti mascherati hanno lanciato bottiglie molotov e pietre contro le auto all'ingresso della città ebraica di Omer.

Scontri si sono svolti nel quartiere Sho'fat di Gerusalemme, la scena del rapimento di Abu Khdeir, Mercoledì scorso, punto di origine per l'attuale ondata di rabbia che imperversa attraverso le comunità palestinesi in Israele, nella Cisgiordania occupata e a Gerusalemme. Scontri simili sono stati riportati nei quartieri di Gerusalemme di Abu Tur, Issawiyeh, Ezzariyeh e nella Città Vecchia.

L’ Alto Comitato Arabo per il Monitoraggio sta progettando una manifestazione a livello nazionale il prossimo Venerdì 18 luglio, a Nazareth.

Clashes carry on in Palestinian cities across Israel for 5th consecutive day

Clashes between Palestinian citizens of Israel and Israeli police forces reignited Sunday afternoon and continued into the night for the fifth straight day, following confirmation by Israel’s secret police—the Shin Bet—that several Jewish suspects had been arrested for the brutal murder of 16-year-old Mohammad Abu Khdeir in East Jerusalem last week. 

Palestinian demonstrators burned tires, blocked streets and clashed with Israeli security personnel in 19 Palestinian towns in cities within present day Israel Sunday evening. 

As of Sunday night, 277 Palestinians have reportedly been arrested since protests and clashes began last week, including 110 youth under the age of 18, according to Adalah, the legal center for Arab minority rights in Israel. 50 of those arrested thus far will be taken to court in an attempt to extend the duration of their arrests, according to Israeli police estimates.

A group of over 200 demonstrators clashed with Israeli security forces at the entrance of the Palestinian town of Tamra near Haifa on Sunday afternoon. 11 people were arrested during the clashes, according to Israeli police reports. Over 50 Palestinian citizens of Israel have been arrested during the last two days of clashes.

In Iksal, a Palestinian village near Nazareth, protestors burned parts of a police outpost. In Nazareth, demonstrators threw stones at police and a local fire station, which led to the reported arrest of 12 demonstrators. 

Demonstrators in the town of Arraba in the lower Galilee burned tires on the main road forcing Israeli police to close it to traffic. Additional clashes were reported in Shefamer, Taibe, Tira, Qalansawe, Kafr Qara, Sakhnin among other locations.  

"I would call the situation in Qalansawe a crash landing. This is the first time in history that I've met with something like this. I guess the anger and the rage (that's been building up) for years has exploded now," said the Mayor of Qalansawe, Abed Salameh, in an interview with Yehudit Yarenot. 

In the south, clashes between Israeli security forces and Palestinian citizens of Israel were reported in the Bedouin towns of Arara, Laqiya, Tel as-Sabi, and Hura. 

12 were arrested in connection to clashes near Tel as-Sabi, with more expected in the coming days, according to the website of Yehudit Yarenot. Masked demonstrators reportedly threw Molotov cocktails and stones at cars at the nearby entrance of the Jewish town of Omer. 

Clashes carried on in the Sho’fat neighborhood of Jerusalem, the scene of Abu Khdeir’s kidnapping last Wednesday and the point of origin for the current wave of anger sweeping across Palestinian communities in Israel and the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem. Similar clashes were reported in the Jerusalem neighborhoods of Abu Tur, Issawiyeh, Ezzariyeh and the Old City.

The High Arab Follow-up Committee is planning a nation-wide demonstration next Friday, 18 July, in Nazareth.
