Egitto attacca la punizione di massa israeliana a Gaza

Venerdì l’Egitto ha attaccato Israele per l'uccisione di civili a Gaza con politiche oppressive di punizione di massa, esortando la comunità internazionale ad agire rapidamente per porre fine al conflitto.

La campagna militare aerea israeliana che mira ai militanti islamici che lanciano razzi da Gaza, ha ucciso circa 95 palestinesi ferendone più di 500 da quando è stata lanciato all'inizio di Martedì.

"L'Egitto respinge l'irresponsabile escalation israeliana sul territorio palestinese occupato, che si presenta sotto forma di un uso eccessivo e non necessario della forza militare che porta alla morte di civili innocenti", ha detto il ministero degli Esteri. "Questo rappresenta una continuazione delle politiche oppressive di punizione di massa".

La dichiarazione del ministero inoltre ha fatto appello alla comunità internazionale di intervenire rapidamente per porre fine alla violenza, e ha detto che le due parti devono rispettare una tregua in vigore dal loro conflitto del 2012.

La continua escalation del conflitto non crea il clima adatto ... a futuri negoziati per risolvere pacificamente la questione, ha aggiunto il ministero.

L'Egitto, che ha un trattato di pace con Israele, ha contribuito a mediare la tregua del 2012 tra lo Stato ebraico e Hamas, il movimento islamista palestinese che controlla la Striscia di Gaza.

Ma il governo del neo-eletto presidente egiziano Abdel Fattah al-Sisi ha finora risposto al conflitto di Gaza, solo chiedendo a entrambe le parti che fermino le violenze.

 mass punishment in Gaza

Egypt hit out at Israel on Friday for killing civilians in Gaza with "oppressive policies of mass punishment", while urging the international community to act quickly to end the conflict.

Israel's aerial military campaign targeting rocket-firing Islamist militants in Gaza has killed around 95 Palestinians and wounded more than 500 since it was launched early Tuesday.

"Egypt rejects the irresponsible Israeli escalation in the occupied Palestinian territory, which comes in the form of excessive and unnecessary use of military force leading to the death of innocent civilians," the foreign ministry said.

"This represents a continuation of the oppressive policies of mass punishment."

The ministry statement also appealed to the international community to quickly interfere to end the violence, and said the two sides must adhere to a truce that ended their 2012 conflict.

The continuing escalation of the conflict would not "create the suitable climate... for future negotiations to peacefully settle" the issue, the ministry added.

Egypt, which has a peace treaty with Israel, helped to broker the 2012 truce between the Jewish state and Hamas, the Palestinian Islamist movement that controls the Gaza Strip.

But the government of newly-elected Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi has so far only responded to the Gaza conflict by demanding both sides stop the violence.
