Siria, Stop alle violazioni contro gli attivisti non violenti!

Tre principali piattaforme dell’attivismo siriano non violento hanno denunciato oggi i crescenti sequestri e arresti arbitrari di attivisti da parte di uomini armati in zone controllate dai ribelli.

L’appello è firmato dal Centro di documentazione delle violazioni in Siria (Vdc), dai Comitati di coordinamento locali (Lcc) e dal Raggruppamento dei sostenitori della rivoluzione siriana.

È stato pubblicato ieri dopo quanto è accaduto nella città di Saraqeb, nella regione nord-ocidentale di Idlib, quando un gruppo composto da 15 uomini armati e con il volto coperto, ha attaccato l’ufficio mediatico della città.

Questi uomini hanno malmenato l’attivista Manhal Barish e hanno rapito il giornalista polacco Marcin Suder (foto in basso) che si trovava lì per insegnare agli attivisti tecniche per condurre reportage fotografici in zone di guerra. Hanno portato via dall’ufficio i computer portatili, le macchine fotografiche e i soldi e distrutto tutto il resto, in base alle testimonianze di attivisti locali.

Questo è solo l’ultimo episodio in ordine di tempo, dopo una serie di rapimenti e arresti di molti attivisti e persone comuni in diverse zone della Siria. Il 20 luglio scorso erano stati rapiti nella regione di Raqqa gli attivisti Firas Haj Saleh e Ibrahim al Ghazi. Qualche giorno fa il gruppo dello Stato islamico dell’Iraq e del Levante ha arrestato i membri del Consiglio locale della città di Tell Abyad, che poi sono stati tutti rilasciati, ad eccezione degli attivisti Ahmad al Haj Saleh e Ahmad al Hamdo.

Le organizzazioni promotrici dell’appello condannano con la massima fermezza quanto accaduto nella città di Saraqeb, a Raqqa, nella zona di Tell Abyad e in altre zone liberate. Definiscono questi uomini armati autori dei recenti crimini come “estranei alla rivoluzione” e li accusano di volerne modificare gli obiettivi e deviare il percorso. I firmatari dell’appello chiedono la liberazione di tutti gli attivisti e chiedono a tutti i consigli militari di mettere fine a queste violenze. Inoltre invitano tutte le iniziative civili a condannare compatte questi atteggiamenti per riaffermare i principi di “libertà, dignità e giustizia”.

L’appello è aperto a tutte le persone e le organizzazioni che vogliono firmarlo.

Urgent Call to Stop the Transgressions against Civilian Acti

Today on 24.7.2013, an unknown armed group of 15 masked and armedindividuals headed with two cars have raided the Media Office of Saraqeb cityin Idlib province at around 10.30 AM nearby Owda Mosque Square. Theyhave assaulted the activist Menhal Barish and kidnapped the Polish reporter MartinSodar, who was training the activists on photography and covering events. Inaddition, the group has also looted the office's contents of mobile phones,cameras, and money as well broke the furniture, as one of the field activistsin Saraqeb city reported. The activist has confirmed that the armed groupraided the office and attempted to kidnap the journalist; when the activistBarish attempted to stop them, they assaulted him with the riffle's backsideand caused him several bruises in all of his body. Media activist Menhal Barishwas hospitalized and he is in a good condition now. The eyewitness has added thatthe group took the journalist to an unknown destination. 

This incident follows a series of kidnap, arrest, and detention to anumber of activists and public characters in several areas, last of which wasin Raqqa governorate where the activists Firas Al-Haj Saleh and IbrahimAl-Ghazi were kidnapped. Also, prior to this incident with several days, all ofthe members of the Local Council of Tal Abyad city were detained by the IslamicState of Iraq and Sham, where some were released while the activists AhmadAl-Haj Saleh and Wael Al-Hamdo remained.

The undersigned condemn and deplore the incidents inSaraqeb today and that earlier in Raqqa city and Tal Abyad area as well as therest of the liberated areas where the activists get assaulted, suspended, andkidnapped by armed intruders to our revolution and its aims, and demand theimmediate release of all the kidnaped activists and journalists by the abductorgroups. And call on the Military Councils in the liberated areas to stop theserepeated transgressions and send those in charge of them to trial. As well as callon the civil movements to stand against such practices and re-consider ourrevolution’s activists and maintain their rights in freedom, dignity, andjustice.
