Al Qaradawi: Arab rulers sidetracked from Al Aqsa in order to suppress their people Head of the International Union for Muslim Scholars Sheikh Yusuf al-Qaradawi called on Friday for all Palestinians to put an end to their division and unite before being devoured by Israel. He described them as "thieves of the revolutions" and called upon them to stop "oppressing" their nations. Al-Qaradawi said that Israel would like to "devour" the Palestinians and the Aqsa Mosque. He condemned the continuous Israel excavations beneath the mosque. He warned that the measures carried out by the Israeli occupation in the Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron are now being replicated in Al-Aqsa Mosque. The occupation had in 1994 divided the former into two parts; one for Muslims and the other for Jews. This was after an extremist Israeli Jew opened fire on Muslims while they were praying inside the mosque, killing 29 and wounding dozens. Recently, extremist Israeli settlers have been invading the Aqsa Mosque on an almost daily basis. Clashes between them and Muslim worshipers have followed with equal regularity. Extremist Israeli Knesset members are demanding that the Mosque be divided between Muslims and Jews in order to avoid further clashes.
