http://www.palestinemonitor.org Dr. Mustafa Barghouti Condemns Increasing Settlers Violence The MP, Dr. Mustafa Barghouti, Secretary General of the Palestinian National Initiative Movement, said that what settlers are doing in regards to crime and aggression are dangerous and unprecedented developments. Barghouti described the event, saying that settlers threw a petrol bomb and chemicals on a Palestinian car that led to it catching on fire and burning the bodies of six civilians. To a large extent, it is a terrorist act and not the first of its kind, he said, whereby civilians are exposed to the real war of the settlers in the West Bank. He added that the settlers’ crimes, which affected Bassam Mahmoud Issa Gaazh 48, head of the family, Ayman Mohammed Mustafa Gaazh 36, with very serious burns, equally affecting his wife, Jamilah Abdul Hai Gaazh 30, and his three children, Aymaan, 4, Muhammad 3, and Inamul 2, is a cover-up of the occupying authorities. He explained that it is the result of a government cover-up of settlers crimes orchestrated in different forms daily. This is expecially demonstrated in the latest car attack on civilians near the settlement of Nahaliial west of Ramallah as well as in the north of the West Bank. Barghouti confirmed that settlers are engaged in organised terrorism acts against palestinian people and property, including repeated attacks in the form of beatings and abuse in the old town of Hebron. He said that the settlers’ crimes, which affect Palestinian mosques, land, houses and vehicles, are the responsibility of the Netanyahu government which provides the settlers with protection. The escalating attacks by settlers is proof that there is no government in Israel that wants peace, rather, settlers device their own laws and means of government. He feels neither secure nor safe in the presence of the settlers living in the Occupied Territories. Barghouti said the response to the settler attack lies in the increase of popular resistance, the strengthening of the restoration of national unity, and further attempts to impose sanctions on Israel.
