Al Ma’sara Demonstration 19/05/2011
Around 60 demonstrators were prevented from marching outside the town of Al Ma’sara this morning by a contingent of IOF personnel. Joining the peaceful demonstration were several Israeli citizens as well as a strong French solidarity presence.
As soon as the demonstrators start singing in front of the solders they start arresting people without any reason first they arrest two Israeli’s and then they arrest Mohammed Brijya 33 year the spoke person of the committee after that they arrest two brothers Jumah Zawahra 42 years a member of the popular committee of the village and his brother Karim zawahra 32 years
They took all of them to unknown area in gush Atsyoun settlement
Since three weeks the IOF using new stratigy against the demonstrations in Al-Ma’sara village , they arrest since in May 14 demonstrators , part of them have court cases but the most important thing that they are looking for is to prevent the activists from attending the demonstrations , so far it is not allowed for any member of the popular committee to participate in the demonstrations
The IOF think by this method of punishment they will stop the demonstrations in the village
But I think this will give a reason for the people in the village to be motivated to resist more and more
