Welcome to ESF 2010 Website Another Europe is Possible! Welcome to the website of 6th European Social Forum (ESF) www.esf2010.org/ taking place from 1st - 4th July 2010 in Istanbul, Turkey.. In order to get information about previous European social forums please visit www.fse-esf.org. ESF was first held in Florence 2002, lastly in Malmo 2008. Among the participants are trade unions, migration networks, environmental organisations, feminist organisations, the global justice movement, peace networks, human rights organisations, academics, youth organisations – and many more. ESF is a unique space for organisations, movements, networks and individuals engaged in building a more sustainable, democratic and equitable society. Tens of thousands of activists and a broad range of organisations come together to share experiences, debate ideas – and not the least to formulate proposals and to build new alliances for mobilisation and effective action. ESF is about changing Europe – not merely to contemplate the situation of today. CHARTER // ANOTHER EUROPE The network for the Charter for another Europe is constituted in the framework of the ESF process after the referendum consultations about the european constitution. Another Europe is possible: this is the horizon created by the anti-neoliberal social movements, creating a new stage in constructing a Europe of peoples. European mobilizations during the first years ofthe 21st century against the war, neoliberalism, sexism and racism, against the destruction of democratic and social rights and the privatization of public services and demanding the guarantee of universal rights, have opened the way to elaborating a project of a “Charter of Principles for Another Europe”, which we wish to submit for public discussion.
