Al Ma’sara Demonstration 10/12/10
Around 60 demonstrators were prevented from marching outside the town of Al Ma’sara this morning by a contingent of IOF personnel. Joining the peaceful demonstration were several Israeli citizens as well as a strong international presence.
In addition to the regular international support was a delegation from South Africa, who led the chants against the Israeli occupation and the system of institutionalized racism, drawing parallels with their own struggle against apartheid.
Special mention was given to the support given by Argentina and Brazil who have recognized the Palestinian state and its people’s right to self-determination.
Several participants suffered from the effects of the tear gas used by the IOF, and one woman from South Africa was injured by a sound grenade thrown at her.
