Dear Friend, We believe in the Nonviolent Peaceforce. Our convening event in New Delhi brought together people from 47 countries to organize a nonviolent response to the violence in our world. To learn more we hope you will visit our web site at: http://WWW.nonviolentpeaceforce.org Our mission is to create a trained, international civilian nonviolent peace force. The Peaceforce will be sent to conflict areas to prevent death and destruction and protect human rights, thus creating the space for local groups to struggle nonviolently, enter into dialogue and seek peaceful resolution. Our goal is to build the organization needed to create and maintain a standing Nonviolent Peace Force beginning with a pilot project of 50 to go to Sri Lanka and help keep the peace and then building up to 2000 active members, 4000 reserves and 5000 supporters by 2010 that will go to other countries involved in violence. The Nonviolent Peaceforce is made up of many volunteers, who put out a newsletter, enter information in a data bank, and do publicity, research and development. As we are growing we need more people to help. WE NEED YOU. It is with your help that we will be able to offer a viable alternative where war and violence occurs. Please join us and give the world a new vision. With hope and hard work, Mel Duncan |
